The East Burke volleyball team, on the brink of defeat, battled with visiting Bandys Thursday in Catawba Valley Athletic 2A Conference play.

After dropping the opening set to the Lady Trojans, the Lady Cavaliers started a comeback in the second set with Bandys being one point away from a 2-0 advantage.

Two kills by Katherine Greene, a kill and block by Raegan Carter, and a kill by Bree Winkler led East Burke to reverse the Lady Trojans advantage in a 26-24 set win.

East Burke led all the way in set three (25-20) with Greene, Carter, Addy Fortenberry, and Ashauna Reinhardt Phillips making key plays.

Bandys, unfortunately, took charge in the next two sets winning 25-6 and 15-5 denying the Lady Cavaliers from their first win in CVAC play.

Phillips led EB with 7 kills as Carter, Fortenberry, Greene, and Kyndal Morrison all recorded two blocks.

The JV Lady Cavaliers also came back from a set one loss to defeat Bandys in three sets.

Karlie Chester (6 kills), Addie Brittain (2 aces), Carissa Towery (11 assists, 9 digs) led East Burke with Heaven Waycaster being a key server.
