Wildcat comeback rally falls short

Gastonia- The Draughn football team fell 30 points behind in last Friday’s season opener at Hunter Huss.

With two second-half touchdown runs by Nigel Dula, a comeback bid for the Wildcats fell short to the Huskies 44-21.

Dula, finishing with 111 rushing yards on 24 carries, now unofficially sits at 58 career touchdowns in raising the bar for the school record lead.

Quarterback Eli Tillery finished with 183 passing yards on 15 completions to four different receivers, including a touchdown pass to Connor Pinkerton.

Pinkerton led with a team-high 75 receiving yards on four catches followed by Jacob Mull (5-53), Dula (5-44), and Justice Cunningham (1-11).

Tillery also added 39 rushing yards to finish with a team-high 222 total yards.

Draughn hosts their home opener Friday with Patton in their 14th head-to-head matchup.
